You can help end violence against women world-wide. One in three women around the world has been beaten, coerced into sex, or otherwise abused in her lifetime. Congress is in session. With that said, we have an opportunity to get the International Violence Against Women Act (International-Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA); HR4594/S2982) passed. This bi-partisan piece of legislation would make ending gender-based violence a priority for U.S. foreign policy and international assistance.
Violence against women and girls is a human rights violation and a worldwide pandemic. Every day, we hear news reports about instances of violence against women and girls world-wide. Most recently, we have heard reports about cases where women in Afghanistan light themselves on fire to escape further abuse. Help make ending gender-based violence a priority for U.S. foreign policy and international assistance. Contact your Congress person and urge him or her to pass the International Violence Against Women Act (I-VAWA; HR4594/S2982). Photo credit Microsoft Clip Art
