A graduate of Marquette University and the University of Wisconsin Law School, Nichelle Mitchem has built a career around assisting others. Most recently, Nichelle Mitchem was the Executive Director of My Sisters Place, Inc., which provides comprehensive and holistic programs and services for indigent, homeless, battered women and their children. Applying her extensive experience in service provision to vulnerable populations to her role, Nichelle Mitchem oversaw long-term goals at My Sisters Place, Inc. Nichelle Mitchems achievements included but was not limited to augmenting the organizations community presence through marketing and public relations campaigns. As a result of her unwavering commitment to improving the quality of life for battered women and their children, My Sisters Place, Inc. enhanced its capacity to provide a broad array of programs and supportive services, including emergency shelter, transitional housing, case management, and a 24-hour crisis hotline. A published author, Nichelle Mitchem has contributed research to several leading periodicals. Nichelle Mitchems articles include Legal Needs Assessment for the Aged, which appeared in BIFOCAL from the American Bar Associations Commission on Law and Aging, as well as Elderly Legal Needs Assessment, which appeared in AGING Magazine, published by the Administration on Aging within the United States Department of Health and Human Services. Before working at My Sisters Place, Inc., Nichelle Mitchem served as the Director of Operations of a new university based national initiative dedicated to disseminating knowledge about best practices in service provision to the growing number of kinship care providers from 2002 to 2005. From 1999 to 2002, Nichelle Mitchem was Executive Director of Women Against Abuse, Inc., the largest domestic violence agency in the state of Pennsylvania.
